Art

The expansion of one’s self can be realized through art and the experience of art.

About

I was an artist well before becoming a graphic designer. It’s simply taken me longer to realize what I want to do artistically, that is, to explore universal symbolic imagery—generally taking the form of nature or natural patterns.

Tree of Life

December 30, 2011

A friend described this painting as looking like blood vessels. The images of trees can represent many things: vibrancy, new life, potential, break a part off and it looks like the whole. Where does this energy come from? Where does the energy go?

Coiled

May 27, 2011

The image for Coiled came into my mind almost complete. The only thing that was different from the image in my mind was that the rose was blue. I decided on red because it is a vital color, full of life. The shell in the center represents potential energy, cool and calm, waiting for its moment.

Art is for Everyone

August 25, 2010

Art is for Everyone was originally titled Woman Power, but sadly, the term Woman Power has developed a negative or divisive connotation. Personally, I know Woman Power as the creative force within, able to bring forth all things. The shell spirals outward forever, the full moon, a symbol of possibilities and illumination. Art is realized as the ability to do something well, with skill, and is available to all.

Sacred Rose

May 31, 2010

Sacred Rose is a visual representation of my own creative well or source of creative energy. I painted this with intention; visualizing the waxing and waning of this energy at a center point within my chest. The Sacred Rose is the first in a series of works that intend to explore the archetypical Feminine aspects present in all of us.
